Quick Summary

This article outlines the full process of Jiangsu Beier Home Decor shifting its IPO plan from the A-share market to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and analyzes the operating status and potential risks of this leading Chinese flooring export player. Key takeaways are as follows:

1. Founder Zhang Xiaoling has worked in the industry for 35 years. Starting out producing computer desk components, she eventually pivoted the company into the flooring industry. Today, Beier ranks first in three segments: North American PVC flooring exports, Asian SPC flooring exports to Europe and North America, and Chinese laminate flooring exports, making it one of the world's top flooring OEM/ODM leaders.

2. Beier's IPO journey has been turbulent. Over four years, it completed A-share tutoring, suspended the process, restarted it, and ultimately abandoned the A-share plan to file for a Hong Kong IPO. Before the IPO, its controlling shareholders paid out a special RMB 60 million dividend to themselves, and the company has extremely concentrated ownership: the controlling founder siblings hold more than 91% of total shares.

3. The company faces multiple understated risks: nearly 90% of its revenue comes from overseas OEM business, while its in-house brand business continues to shrink. It relies on the North American market for nearly 70% of revenue, and faces risks from high accounts receivable, exchange rate volatility, and trade barriers. It must address these core weaknesses to gain capital market acceptance.

This article reveals the development status and branding pain points of leading export flooring manufacturer Beier Home, offering key insights for brand players in the flooring and home furnishing industry. Key takeaways:

1. Brand positioning: Beier's ODM manufacturing share has risen from 76.9% to 87.9%, while its own OBM brand share has fallen from 23.1% to 12.1%. Long-term OEM reliance has left the company without pricing power, only able to capture thin processing margins. This confirms the core value of owning an independent brand for long-term corporate development.

2. Market trends: Domestic wood flooring demand continues to shrink amid the deep adjustment of China's real estate sector, and Beier has proactively scaled back its domestic business to focus on overseas markets. This shows that export remains a key growth engine for China's flooring industry, while also highlighting the risks of over-reliance on a single overseas market.

3. Policy and product adjustment: The new mandatory national standard for wood-based panels will take effect in June 2026. Higher environmental requirements will push up raw material costs, forcing brands to adjust production processes. Only brands that complete compliance upgrades in advance will avoid being eliminated from the market.

This article sorts out the operation of leading export flooring manufacturer Beier Home, offering clear opportunity insights and risk warnings for both domestic and cross-border flooring sellers. Key takeaways:

1. Opportunity: Demand for PVC and SPC flooring is growing steadily in overseas markets, and leading contract manufacturers are posting concurrent growth in revenue and profit. This confirms that overseas flooring export remains a viable growth track worth entering, and sellers can leverage their own resources to tap into these categories.

2. Risk warnings: On the policy side, the implementation of the new national environmental standard for wood-based panels will push up production costs. Domestic sellers need to adjust their production processes in advance to meet compliance requirements and avoid regulatory risks. On the market side, overseas trade policies are highly volatile, with frequent adjustments to US tariffs and narrowing of tax avoidance channels via Vietnam, while exchange rate fluctuations directly erode profits. Sellers reliant on overseas markets need to put risk hedging measures in place in advance.

3. Operation: Extending long payment terms to retain large key clients will increase accounts receivable and threaten cash flow security. Sellers need to balance customer relationship management and cash flow stability to avoid the risk of a cash crunch.

This article reveals the operating conditions of leading flooring contract manufacturer Beier Home, offering key insights for home goods manufacturing factories. Key takeaways:

1. Product and market opportunities: Domestic wood flooring demand continues to shrink amid China's real estate downturn, while overseas demand for PVC and SPC flooring is growing steadily. Factories can proactively adjust their product mix to enter export-focused categories and unlock new growth.

2. Pros and cons of the OEM model: The ODM model delivers stable demand and helps factories maintain revenue growth, but its drawbacks are also clear. Long-term contract manufacturing leaves factories without pricing power, unable to capture brand premiums, leads to sustained compression of profit margins, and limits long-term development potential.

3. Risks and adjustment directions: Over-reliance on a single overseas market exposes factories to multiple risks from trade barriers and exchange rate volatility, while shrinking domestic business provides no buffer against external shocks. Factories need to diversify into multiple markets in advance, gradually build their own brands to reduce operational risk. In addition, factories need to adjust production processes early to prepare for compliance with the new national standard for wood-based panels.

This article sorts out the current development status and pain points of China's flooring export industry, offering industry insights and business direction for service providers focused on home goods export. Key takeaways:

1. Industry trends: Hit by the real estate downturn, domestic flooring demand continues to shrink, and a large number of companies and production capacity have shifted to overseas markets. The share of ODM contract manufacturing continues to rise, and the overall industry is trending toward export-focused contract manufacturing.

2. Core client pain points: Export companies generally face three core pain points. First, heavy reliance on overseas markets exposes them to cash flow and profit volatility from exchange rate swings, trade tariffs, and long payment terms from overseas clients. Second, most contract manufacturers lack in-house brand operation capabilities, struggle to build their own brands, and see their long-term profit margins squeezed by upstream and downstream players. Third, the implementation of China's new national environmental standard requires companies to adjust production processes, creating an urgent need for compliance upgrades.

3. Business opportunities: Service providers can develop targeted solutions to address these pain points — including exchange rate hedging services, environmental compliance consulting, and in-house brand operation services — to unlock new business growth.

Beier Home's decision to abandon an A-share IPO for a Hong Kong listing, and the development needs of Chinese export manufacturers, offer key insights for platforms serving home goods manufacturing companies. Key takeaways:

1. Listing attraction strategy: Many high-quality Chinese home goods export contract manufacturers do not meet A-share listing requirements due to their business structure, and have strong demand to list in Hong Kong. Hong Kong listing platforms can optimize their attraction strategies for these traditional mainland manufacturing exporters to draw high-quality capacity players to list.

2. Governance and risk mitigation: These export contract manufacturers generally have highly concentrated ownership. In Beier's case, the controlling founder siblings hold over 90% of shares, and the controlling shareholders took a large special dividend ahead of the IPO, creating risks of insufficient protection for minority shareholders. Platforms need to improve corporate governance rules, strengthen post-listing regulation, and mitigate governance risks.

3. Information disclosure: These companies generally rely heavily on overseas markets and face multiple external risks. Platforms can require companies to strengthen risk disclosure, fully alert investors to risks related to trade barriers, exchange rates, and cash flow, and help investors make informed decisions.

This article reveals the current development status of traditional Chinese home export manufacturers, offering high reference value for research on the industrial upgrading of traditional Chinese manufacturing. Key takeaways:

1. New industry trends: Hit by the real estate downturn, China's domestic home market continues to contract, and leading players are accelerating their shift to export, with the share of contract manufacturing continuing to rise. Meanwhile, many eligible traditional manufacturing companies are abandoning A-share listings to pursue Hong Kong IPOs, which has become a new trend for traditional manufacturers seeking public financing.

2. New industry problems: Leading export contract manufacturers generally face three core problems. First, the OEM model leaves them without an independent brand, trapping them at the lower end of the global supply chain with continuously compressed profit margins. Second, they suffer from excessive market concentration: 90% of revenue comes from overseas, and nearly 70% from the North American market, exposing them to multiple external risks from exchange rate volatility and trade barriers, while the shrinking domestic market provides no risk buffer. Third, in terms of corporate governance, highly concentrated ownership and large pre-IPO dividends paid to controlling shareholders create clear risks to the protection of minority shareholder interests.

3. Future research directions on business models: The low-price, high-volume export OEM model can only sustain short-term growth, and cannot deliver high capital market valuations in the long run. How traditional manufacturing companies can transform to build independent brands and diversify into multiple markets is a worthy direction for in-depth research on industrial upgrading.

今年5月,土耳其落地对中国强化木地板反倾销复审终裁,原有反倾销关税政策续期五年;
